In Aeromontes we work with the drone flight conditions required by AESA, respecting the civil use regulations of aircraft piloted by remote control.
We are a team of pilots and camera operators passionate about drone technology. Thefore we have more than hundreds of hours of flight experience.
Flight rules and recommendations
The first thing we should do before starting any recording is to decide the place of flight: closed or outdoor site.
In the case of choosing a closed place, we must know and follow the flight conditions, also the basic safety recommendations in those places.
To fly the drone abroad, AESA indicates a series of instructions and recommendations taken from various regulations: Royal Decree 552/2014 of June 27, and Law 18/2014, articles 50 to 53.
Main rules of flight conditions
Keep always contact vision with the drone and make sure that the weather conditions allow it.
Do not fly over 120 meters high during the flight.
Use suitable areas for flight, such as depopulated places and better, flight areas reserved for aeromodelling tests.
Fly the drone safely and without risk to people.
Avoid flying near airports or other areas that have reserved airspace.
Do not fly the drone over crowds of people, including beaches or parks. Urban areas are prohibited for flights.

What kind of drone pilots?
In addition, we can fly over buildings or over people outdoors if the drone you pilot weighs less than 250 grams and does not reach a height greater than 20 meters above ground.
Also we must bear in mind that if our drone exceeds 25 kg, we are obliged and must have a Class II medical certificate.
Drones with camera
Regarding drones that have image and video capture devices, it is important to remember that we must respect the Data Protection Law.
Moreover, when there is a possibility of affecting third parties in their privacy, directly or indirectly, we must inform them and, in fact the Data Protection Agency of the characteristics of that data processing.
Below you have an example of the quality of images and videos that are able to get our drones https://aeromontes.com/filming-photography/

Requirements to become a drone operator
The conditions that must be met are:
- Do I have to be over age?
It is necessary to be of legal age in Spain.
- Do I need some type of training?
You must prove that you have the theoretical knowledge to obtain a pilot’s license. Those documents must be approved by AESA or ATO.
- Do I have to prove my knowledge related to drone piloting?
We must have adequate knowledge regarding the aircraft we are going to pilot. This document may be issued by the operator, by the aircraft manufacturer or an organization authorized by it, or by an approved training organization.
What should a drone nameplate include?
All the drones must to carry an identification plate in a visible place, whether for professional or recreational use. It should include:
- owner’s name.
- Data to contact him.
- Manufacturer’s Name.
- Type and model of drone.
- Serial number.
When can I fly?
You can’t fly with rain or thunderstorm. The weather conditions must be adequate to obtain the best graphic material and with all safety measures.

Can drones fly at night?
In order to make night flights with unmanned aircraft we must request the necessary permits from AESA. For this, it will be necessary to carry out a preliminary safety study of the area that we are going to fly over.
We must keep in mind that the drone must have lights and badges so that it is easily identifiable in the dark.

Requirements to fly at night:
- Previous Study of Specific Aeronautical Safety.
- Lights or badges to ensure visibility.
- The drone cannot weigh more than 25 kg.
- Maximum flight height is 120 meters and in a radius of 600 meters.
- The flight can be BVLOS (flight beyond the visual range).
- Prior and express authorization from AESA is required.
Where can you fly?
Currently, the use of drones has some restricted areas to fly.
Thus, its use in airports and controlled airspaces is not allowed unless expressly authorized by AESA and ENAIRE or areas considered dangerous such as power plants and power lines or where there is a strong industrial activity.
In addition, you will not be able to fly in areas of military control and in protected areas for historical and cultural interest or in those where there is flora and fauna and natural parks.
In Aeromontes we comply with the requirements and certificates of radio to request flight authorization in urban areas and controlled airspaces.
